The register records each delay event with its clause, the date you became aware of it, the notice date, the critical path activity it affects, days claimed and approved, and its status. It checks each notice against the notice period and flags notices that are late, overdue or still due.

How to use the delay event register

Set up the registerEnter the project, contract form, notice period, data date and who prepared it. FIDIC 1999 uses 28 days.
Add each eventDescribe the event, choose the type and pick a clause from the list or type your own reference.
Record the datesEnter the date you became aware and the date notice was issued. The notice check updates as you type.
Track the claimRecord the critical path activity, days claimed, days approved and the status.
ExportDownload the register as a PDF for submission, an Excel file for further work, or a PNG for a report.

How the notice check works

The check counts calendar days from the aware date to the notice date and compares them with the notice period you set.

In time: notice issued within the period
Late: notice issued after the period
Not issued, overdue: no notice and the period ended before the data date
Not issued, days left: no notice yet, still inside the period
Check dates: the notice date is before the aware date

Terms used

Delay event: Something that may affect time, sequence, access, procurement or completion.
Aware date: The date the contractor became aware, or should have become aware, of the event. Under FIDIC 1999 Sub-Clause 20.1 the 28 days run from this date.
EOT: Extension of time, requested when an excusable delay affects the completion date.
Critical path activity: The activity on the longest path that the event delays. A delay to it moves completion unless there is float.

Is my delay register uploaded?

No. The register runs in your browser. It is saved in this browser's local storage so it is there when you come back. Export to Excel to keep a copy or share it, and use Clear all to remove it.

Can I use it for contracts other than FIDIC?

Yes. Choose the contract form for clause suggestions, set the notice period your contract requires, and type any clause reference that is not in the list.

Does the tool decide entitlement?

No. It organises the records and checks notice timing. Entitlement depends on the contract, the facts and the evidence, and should be assessed by the project team, contract administrator or legal adviser.

Why does an event show as overdue?

No notice date is entered and the data date is later than the aware date plus the notice period. Enter the notice date, or check the aware date and the data date.

What do the exports contain?

The PDF is an A4 landscape register with a summary, every event, the notice due date and check, and totals of days claimed and approved. The Excel file has the same columns with real dates, a filter and a totals row. The PNG is the same register as an image.
